Whilst working full time I was an Ironman triathlete for five years. Competing at the top level of this sport, I broke many course records and represented my GB age group at both Olympic and Ironman distance triathlon.
I love the suffering of endurance sport and after having my first child realised that triathlon was not really a viable option to get my adrenaline fix! Putting on my trainers and seeing how far I could run and how quickly soon became my new addiction. Some people have commented that the more children I have the faster and further I can run. No comment from me!
Every race I do, every training block I complete, I learn something new about myself and how I handle training, competing and family life. Getting the balance right is always a work in progress, but I do believe as long as you enjoy the journey of training, getting fitter and stronger and it feeds positively into your life then running is such a compliment to modern day life.
